moebius Ring

Moebius RIng of 3 How few units are needed to create a moebius? My hypothesis is a moebius can be made of as few as three units. To test I used a set of three interlocked metal rings and just enough of my precious stash of Rainbow Chunky Mochi to show the yarn’s path through a single trip through the spectrum. I single crocheted around the circumference of each band moving from one to the next until I was back to the beginning. Instead of starting the next row by crocheting into the top of the first stitch, I gave the ring a half-twist and crocheted into the space between the stitches above so as to make this row face downward. I pulled the rings through one another as needed using the row above as a guide when changing rings. When I was back at the beginning I made sure I was crocheting into the top of the initial rows not the downward facing one I’d just completed. When back at the beginning again I crocheted into the top of the bottom-facing stitches and by the end of that row I the final rainbow was used up. I double-check it was a single-sided surface by using black yarn for a final row. When it created a black edge above all the stitches without turning I knew it was a moebius. What surprises me is how much the result looks like the recycle symbol and how fun it is to play with.
